The Gifts of Imperfection: Let Go of Who You Think You’re Supposed to Be and Embrace Who you Are

By Brené Brown, Ph.D., L.M.S.W

This turned out to be the first book Chris tackled from her 2018 Reading List (part of her 2018 Challenge to Read more productive stuff).  Here’s her reaction:

I love this idea of shedding the persona you adopt for the benefit of everyone else and just happily moving into your own skin.  I talked about this as part of making a Commitment to Self and how freeing it is being authentic.  Of course it’s also really scary, but this book is like your personal cheerleader, encouraging you to be brave and keep going.

Side note: There is a companion course offered through OWN Lifeclasses.  I haven’t taken it yet, but it’s on my list of things to check out.

If you are going to take the time and energy to work on yourself, you may as well work on your real self.  I’m now a fan of @BreneBrown so watch this space for other suggestions as I read them.
